We have all heard of, perhaps even seen, stories of animals mourning the loss of a loved one. Dog’s trying to get a response from a fallen companion, an elephant mourning the loss of a baby calf. But rarely do we hear stories of house cats doing something similar. A stray cat in China is about to change that.

Stray cats can have extremely difficult lives. Some will form friendships with one another to help each other through tough nights and days. These cat friends will often do whatever they can to help the other.

They cuddle up together to stay warm, they help each other ʜᴜɴᴛ, and they protect one another from ᴘʀᴇᴅᴀᴛᴏʀs. That is just how it can be on the streets for many wild cats. This story is one that will touch anyone who has a soft spot in their heart for our cat companions.

The story came out of Songbei, an area of northern China. According to viewer accounts, the white and orange cat stood on top of her friend’s ʟɪꜰᴇʟᴇss body and tried to ʀᴇᴠɪᴠᴇ her. Apparently she’s in denial about her friend’s Dᴇᴀth. In desperation, the cat took the limp corpse to its mouth and began to drag her to a nearby shelter for help

Not easy, the cat struggled to get his friend away. She was clearly ᴇxʜᴀᴜsᴛᴇᴅ but still dragged herself forward step by step. Later, she pulls the other cat under a parked car. She may be hoping that this is a safe place to rest and recuperate

We don’t fully know what took place on this day but it’s hard to watch a cat that would not leave her ᴅᴇᴀᴅ friend. Many people believe that the other cat was already ᴅᴇᴀᴅ when the video was taken. This may or may not be true. There isn’t any information as to why the cat was ɪɴᴊᴜʀᴇᴅ in the first place

Although no one has any idea as to the reason for the other cat’s death, this cat’s devoted devotion has moved our hearts.

It was clear that the cat was not yet ready to let her friend go. We sincerely hope that this mouring cat finds the strength to deal with her loss.
