Mortal Kombat is an American series of martial arts action films based on the fighting video game series of the same name by Midway Games. The first film was produced by Lawrence Kasanoff’s Threshold Entertainment.
The first film, Mortal Kombat, was released in 1995 and its sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, was released in 1997. After the two films, game publisher Midway filed for bankruptcy.
Warner Bros., having become the parent of New Line Cinema in 2008 (after over a decade of both operating as separate divisions of Time Warner), made a bid to purchase most of Midway’s assets, including Mortal Kombat. In June 2009, Kasanoff and Threshold sued in bankruptcy court, arguing that they owned the copyright to many of the characters from the series.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 8: Dead Reckoning Part 2
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is an upcoming American spy action film directed by Christopher McQuarrie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erik Jendresen. It is the sequel to Dead Reckoning: Part One (2023), and the eighth installment in the Mission: Impossible film series.
Tom Cruise returns in his eighth appearance as the series’ lead character, Ethan Hunt, whom he will have portrayed over a period of 28 years at the time of the film’s release.
Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff all reprise their roles from previous films in the series.
In January 2019, Cruise announced that the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films would be shot back-to-back with McQuarrie writing and directing both films. Plans for the film later changed in February 2021. Returning and new cast members were announced soon after, and Lorne Balfe, who composed the score for two films, returned to score the film.
Filming began in March 2022 in the United Kingdom with other filming locations, including Malta, South Africa and Norway. It was halted in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 28, 2024, by Paramount Pictures.
As the latest high-stakes adventure of IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) continues to set box office records, fans of the Mission: Impossible franchise eagerly await the second half of this epic story with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. It’s honestly amazing that the Mission: Impossible series has been able to up the ante with every installment since the original 1996 film.
Each installment somehow ends up being more exciting than the last and adds its own flavor of action spectacle to keep the franchise fresh and exciting. With a solid foundation formed by Mission: Impossible 1996, we got high-speed motorcycle chases in Mission: Impossible II, a terrifying villain in Mission: Impossible III, a Burj Khalifa-scaling triumph in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, a stealthy espionage treat in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and a gripping nuclear prevention tale in Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

The Old Man: Season 2

As the stakes rise and secrets are uncovered, Emily finds herself in an identity crisis with dire implications, and “Zoe McDonald” (Amy Brenneman) makes surprising moves into Chase’s world.
The Old Man: Season 2 (2024) on FX continues the gripping, tense, and character-driven narrative that captivated audiences in its first season. Starring Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, and Amy Brenneman, this season delves deeper into the life of Dan Chase (played by Bridges), a former CIA operative who finds himself drawn back into the dangerous world he thought he had left behind.
The new season picks up after the explosive events of the first, where Chase was forced to go on the run, pursued by both governmental agencies and shadowy figures from his past. Jeff Bridges delivers another powerful performance, portraying Chase as a man grappling with his past, his personal demons, and the cost of a life spent in covert operations.
John Lithgow returns as FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper, Chase’s old colleague, and sometime adversary. Lithgow’s portrayal of Harper is nuanced and layered, with the character torn between his duty to the government and his personal connection to Chase. Their dynamic continues to be a highlight, filled with tension, moral complexity, and a deep sense of history.
Amy Brenneman also returns as Zoe McDonald, whose life becomes increasingly entangled with Chase’s as the series progresses. Her character provides emotional depth and a human perspective amidst the chaos of espionage and violence.
Season 2 introduces new threats and allies, expanding the conspiracy that entraps Chase, while maintaining the show’s signature blend of sharp dialogue, methodical pacing, and explosive action. The series continues to explore themes of loyalty, identity, and survival, with stunning cinematography and gritty realism adding to its intensity.
For fans of intense thrillers and character-driven dramas, The Old Man: Season 2 promises to deliver high-stakes intrigue and powerful performances that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
