Diogo Jota was experiencing a “happy moment” before his tragic death.

Jota, 28, lost her life in a car accident together with her brother Andre Silva, when their car, a Lamborghini, left the road due to the outbreak of a tire as she was overtaking another vehicle and caught fire.

Before the accident, the striker had spoken to the president of Gondomar while he was in the car to Zamora, Spain.

According to reports, Álvaro Cerqueira, president of the Gondomar SC, was one of the last people with whom Diogo Jota spoke before the tragedy: he had spoken with the Liverpool star a couple of hours before his death.
“It had just passed last night, we were talking on the phone and was fine,” the president of the club in which Jota started his growth and took his first steps to become a world -renowned player.

Cerqueira and Jota had regular conversations: “We talked almost every week and I knew that it was having a lot of fun,” he added.
Although Jota played for Liverpool and André Silva has gone to pain in the last two seasons, the field of the São Miguel stadium has always been available to the brothers.
When Diogo needed to train out of season, he asked to come here and we always made it available to all the necessary material. His brother also came and both trained.

Sorrowful for the loss of two friends, the president of Gondomar SC preferred not adding nothing more: “It is difficult to speak at a time like this, but what will remain is the image of two very humble people, who leave an immense void”.
