Pop superstar Justin Bieber is reportedly facing serious financial troubles, with mounting debt that includes over $8.8 million owed to his former manager, Scooter Braun, according to a recent audit by third-party firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
The financial dispute stems from a series of events beginning in 2022, when Bieber unexpectedly canceled his global “Justice” tour due to health and personal issues. The cancellation forced Bieber to pay $24 million in damages to concert promoter AEG. At the time, Hybe Corporation—the South Korean entertainment company where Braun held a key executive position—covered the compensation on Bieber’s behalf under a financial agreement.
Bieber initially agreed to repay the debt in installments, but according to sources close to the matter, he only made one payment before halting further transactions. This led to a serious conflict between the two longtime collaborators, who had previously worked together for over a decade.
In response to growing tensions, Bieber’s team accused Braun of having taken excessive commissions, allegedly amounting to $26 million during their years of cooperation. However, an internal audit conducted by Hybe revealed that Braun had actually received less in commission than reported, and that Bieber still owed him $1 million.
To resolve the controversy once and for all, a neutral audit was commissioned by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Their comprehensive financial review concluded that Justin Bieber currently owes Scooter Braun approximately $8.806 million USD—a significantly larger figure than initially anticipated.
This revelation has shocked fans and raised questions about Bieber’s current financial management and the long-term fallout from canceling his Justice World Tour. Industry insiders point out that while Bieber continues to generate revenue from music streaming and brand endorsements, his touring losses and outstanding debts may pose challenges in the near future.
Neither Bieber nor Braun has issued an official statement following the PwC report, though representatives from Hybe confirmed the audit’s findings as “accurate and final.”
The once-solid relationship between Bieber and Braun now appears fractured beyond repair. With over a decade of successful collaboration behind them—including Bieber’s rise from a YouTube sensation to a global icon—this financial dispute could mark the final chapter of their partnership.
