Jos Verstappen, father of four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen, has voiced significant concerns regarding Red Bull Racing’s future competitiveness following the departure of their Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey. Newey, a pivotal figure in Red Bull’s engineering success, announced he would leave the team in the first quarter of 2025 after nearly two decades.

In an interview, Jos Verstappen expressed apprehension about the team’s stability, stating, “The team is in danger of falling apart. I was afraid of that earlier this year.”

He emphasized that Newey’s exit could significantly impact Red Bull’s ability to provide Max with a championship-contending car in the upcoming seasons.

Despite these concerns, Max Verstappen has maintained a more optimistic outlook. Addressing the situation, he remarked, “I think Christian [Horner, Red Bull Team Principal] has done a great job in sort of preparing for the next generation of what’s going to happen to Red Bull.”
Max believes that the team has a “really strong group” capable of sustaining their competitive edge even after Newey’s departure.
The departure of Adrian Newey has undoubtedly introduced a period of uncertainty for Red Bull Racing. As the team navigates this transition, the perspectives of both Jos and Max Verstappen highlight the challenges and potential resilience of the organization in maintaining its status as a leading force in Formula 1.
