Max Verstappen fumes over team radio at Singapore Grand Prix despite receiving community service for bad language

Max Verstappen fumed on the team radio during the Singapore Grand Prix.
On Sunday, reigning Formula 1 world champion Verstappen had to settle for second place again after finishing the Singapore Grand Prix behind McLaren star Lando Norris.

This year’s race around the Marina Bay Street Circuit was less eventful than in previous years as Norris led from start to finish in what was a truly dominant display.
Prior to the race, one of the main talking points was the community service obligation given to Verstappen after he swore during Thursday’s press conference.

Verstappen’s punishment came after the FIA decided to clamp down on the bad language used within the sport of F1.

During the race, Verstappen expressed his frustrations over his team radio but managed to keep it PG.
After coming out of the pit lane behind Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, the Dutchman fumed: “I just don’t get it, why we let him undercut us by so far?! It’s just so stupid!”

However, Leclerc did not undercut Verstappen as the Ferrari driver had not pitted at the time.

On the back of his victory, Norris has managed to cut Verstappen’s lead at the top of the standings to 52 points with six races to go.
Former racer and Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle said: “That was a champion’s drive from Lando Norris. Absolutely superb.

“It’s going to be close if it carries on like this. But, as Lando says himself, it’s Max’s still to lose and tonight confirmed that.”

Verstappen said after the race: “I was by myself. I tried to do the best I could and manage my own pace to the end. The first stint was a bit difficult for us, quite a bit of tyre degradation.
“The second stint was a bit better, I was a bit more comfortable. On a weekend we knew we were going to struggle, P2 is a good achievement. Of course we are not happy with second. Now we need to improve more and more and that’s what we will try to do.”

F1 will return next month with the United States Grand Prix, which will take place at the Circuit of the Americas on October 20.
