Grammy Award-winning rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, known as “Ye,” hosted the “Vultures Listening Experience World Tour Listening Party – Haikou Station” at the Wuyuan River Sports Stadium in Haikou, Hainan on the first day of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The event, which attracted 42,000 attendees, was sold out, with 96.5% of tickets purchased by people from cities like Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing.
Despite recent severe damage from Super Typhoon Yagi, which affected the stadium’s infrastructure, the concert went ahead thanks to extensive recovery efforts. West, who lived in China as a child, had previously performed in Beijing and Shanghai but brought a unique listening party format to Haikou this time. The event sparked significant local excitement, with high demand for nearby hotels and a notable increase in tourism. Many fans speculated that West’s connection to Hainan and the event’s atmosphere—highlighted by Yeezy sneakers and coconut water—contributed to the festive spirit.
