The trampoline swimmer Lia Thomas will not take the opportunity of a female athlete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Thomas, the biological man who won a National Women’s Championship in 2022 swimming for Pepsi, has officially lost a legal battle against World Aquatics, in which Thomas argued that his participation in a competition against women was “illegal and not valid”. The 25 -year -old was expelled from female swimming in the summer of 2022, when the sport governing body expelled a person who had abandoned “as part of male puberty” of competing against biological women.
World Aquatics celebrated the Court’s decision to maintain the rule that keeps Thomas out of the women’s pool, describing it as “a great step forward in our efforts to protect female sport.” “World Aquatics is dedicated to promoting an environment that promotes equity, respect and equal opportunities for athletes of all ages, and we reaffirm this promise,” said the organization, according to The Guardian.
It should be noted that World Aquatics has not excluded trapeze athletes from the competition. The organization has introduced an “open” category for trapeze swimmers. The new category debuted during the World Cup last year in Berlin, but the category did not receive a single attempt.

Thomas, who was an average swimmer when she competed against the swimmer, is now a member of the USA Swimming, which facilitates the decision of the court not to change the policy.
“The document includes that, since the athlete has no right to participate in the‘ elite event ’according to USA Swim, much less compete in a WA competition, which occurs when registered with the WA before a competition or by establishing an action that leads to a request for registration as a world record of the WA, simply has no right to commit to eligibility to compete in competitions of the WA,” said the WA Court, according to the medium of the WA.
“Political and operational requirements are simply activated by their current state.”
The US Olympic tests will begin on July 15 in Dubai and, for the first time, will be held in an American football field at the Lucas Oil stadium.
In 2022, when ESPN and ABC highlighted Thomas during the month of the history of women, Thomas spoke with “Good Morning America” and made it clear that the 2024 Olympic Games were on their agenda.
“My goal is to swim in the Olympic tests for a record time, and I would love that that happened,” said Thomas.
Fortunately, generalized opinion has prevailed and women will have the opportunity to compete in the female swimming team and represent the United States in Paris.
