“Black and Blue” (2019) is an action thriller directed by Deon Taylor, starring Naomie Harris, Tyrese Gibson, Frank Grillo, and Mike Colter. The film explores themes of police corruption, racial tension, and the quest for justice.
Naomie Harris plays Alicia West, a rookie police officer in New Orleans who is struggling to reconcile her identity as both a black woman and a cop. While on duty, Alicia inadvertently captures the murder of a young drug dealer on her body cam, a crime committed by corrupt narcotics officers led by Detective Terry Malone (Frank Grillo).
Realizing the danger she is in, Alicia becomes the target of a citywide manhunt orchestrated by the corrupt officers who are determined to destroy the footage and eliminate her. With no one left to trust in the police force, she seeks help from an unlikely ally, Milo “Mouse” Jackson (Tyrese Gibson), a local shop owner with a troubled past.
