‘I’m stupid’ Norris crushes Piastri in historic finish in Canada (and Colapinto overtakes Gasly)

At a Canadian Grand Prix that will forever be etched in the memory of fans, Formula 1 offered a spectacle rich in emotion, controversy, and defining moments of the season. Attention was drawn to a headline-grabbing incident: Lando Norris, in a daring but miscalculated maneuver, collided with his teammate Oscar Piastri during an impossible overtaking attempt. This error not only cost Norris retirement but also sparked debate about his ability to handle pressure and critical situations on track.

Oscar Piastri, meanwhile, once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the rising stars in the category. Thanks to impeccable driving and enviable composure, the Australian not only avoided further consequences during the crash, but also crossed the finish line with a result that solidifies him as a serious title contender. His performance allowed him to increase his championship lead, leaving Norris at 22 points. The rivalry between the two McLaren drivers promises to remain a hot topic in the upcoming races, and fans are eager to see how this dynamic evolves.

While McLaren struggled with internal tensions, Mercedes enjoyed a dream weekend. George Russell took victory thanks to a masterful strategy and impeccable driving, reminding us why he is one of the most consistent drivers on the grid. However, the big surprise came from Mercedes’ young talent, Kimi Antonelli, who secured his first Formula 1 podium. This milestone not only marks a historic moment for the Italian, but also the beginning of a new era for the team, which appears to have found a promising future in Antonelli.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Franco Colapinto, the Argentinian driver who continues to surprise the world, took an impressive third place despite the limitations of his car. By beating Pierre Gasly and demonstrating his innate talent, Colapinto earned a place in the hearts of fans and in conversations about the future of Formula 1. His meteoric rise proves that talent can shine even in difficult conditions.

Off the track, the paddock was rocked by unexpected news: Renault CEO Luca de Meo announced his resignation. This decision has sparked speculation about the direction of Alpine, the team backed by the French manufacturer, at a time when competition in Formula 1 is fiercer than ever. De Meo’s departure raises questions about the team’s stability and ability to remain in the race for the top spots.

As if that weren’t enough, the weekend was also a joyous one for Ferrari, which celebrated a resounding victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, led by the charismatic Robert Kubica. This triumph strengthens Ferrari’s dominant position, not only in Formula 1, but also in endurance racing, thus consolidating its motorsport legacy.

The Canadian Grand Prix was much more than a race; it reflected the spirit of Formula 1 in 2025: young talent challenging the established order, rivalries igniting passions, and unexpected twists keeping fans on the edge of their seats. From Norris’s mistake to the rise of Antonelli and Colapinto, Russell’s victory and Ferrari’s success at Le Mans, this weekend had all the ingredients for an epic chapter in motorsport history. The season is more vibrant than ever, and each race promises new surprises that will keep the world glued to their screens, eager to see who will make the headlines.
