Billie Eilish became the latest artist to be affected by object-throwing at concerts during her performance in Arizona on Friday. The 22-year-old singer was hit in the face by what appeared to be a necklace or bracelet thrown from the audience while performing her Oscar-winning song, “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie movie.

The moment came during a performance of Eilish’s Oscar-winning “Barbie” song “What Was I Made For?”. Video showed the Grammy winner stopped singing for a moment after being hit by what appeared to be a necklace or bracelet and made an expression of annoyance before continuing the performance and tossing the object to her left.
Some audience members could be heard booing the person who threw the object, and fans scolded the fan responsible in the comments of the TikTok clips.
“Why won’t ppl STOP THROWING THINGS,” one fan wrote. “9/10 things thrown get rejected so if you want em to keep it just wait till the end of the concert and workers will collect it.”
Eilish told The Hollywood Reporter last year that she has been “getting hit onstage with things for like, literally, six years” because “people just get excited and it can be dangerous.”
“I have mixed feelings about it, because when you’re up there it blows,” she added. “But you know it’s out of love and they’re just trying to give you something.”
Numerous celebrities have been hit by objects thrown at them during concerts, especially over the past-year-and-a-half.
In November, Zach Bryan stopped a concert in Washington after someone threw an object toward him and hit his guitar player. “Who threw this?” he asked. “Who was it? Does anyone know?” Bryan told fans not to throw things at musicians, adding, “If you guys do know who threw it, we can get them out of here if we ever find out who did it.”
The incident, captured in videos shared on TikTok, shows Eilish pausing mid-performance after being struck, with a visible expression of annoyance. Despite the interruption, she quickly resumed singing and tossed the object aside, continuing with the show. Some concertgoers responded by booing the individual responsible for the thrown object, while others voiced their disapproval in the comments of the TikTok clips.
“Why won’t ppl STOP THROWING THINGS?” one fan wrote, while others emphasized the importance of waiting until the end of the concert to hand over items, as concert staff typically collect them after the performance.
This incident is far from isolated. Eilish herself has previously spoken out about the dangers of being hit with objects during concerts. In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she shared that she’s been dealing with objects thrown at her for over six years. “People just get excited, and it can be dangerous,” she said, acknowledging the mix of excitement and love behind the action, even as it remains problematic.
Eilish is not alone in facing this type of fan behavior. Other stars, including Zach Bryan, Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini, and Harry Styles, have also had similar experiences in recent years. In 2023, a fan was charged with assault after throwing a phone at Rexha, and Ballerini paused her performance after being hit by a thrown bracelet. Similarly, Bryan stopped his show in Washington after an object struck his guitarist.
Eilish is currently on tour in support of her album Hit Me Hard and Soft and will continue performing, with upcoming shows in California and Australia. As she and other performers navigate these troubling incidents, fans are being urged to keep their excitement in check to ensure the safety and comfort of both artists and audiences alike.
