Max Verstappen Threatens to Quit F1 After Controversial FIA Penalty at Mexican GP

Max Verstappen, the three-time Formula 1 World Champion, has expressed frustration with the FIA’s recent penalties, suggesting they could influence his future in the sport. During the Mexican Grand Prix, Verstappen received two 10-second time penalties for incidents involving Lando Norris, resulting in a sixth-place finish. 

Verstappen’s discontent isn’t limited to on-track penalties. In September, he was sanctioned by the FIA for using inappropriate language during a press conference, leading to a community service order. He criticized this punishment as “super-silly” and indicated that such decisions could hasten his departure from Formula 1. 

Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko, has warned that Verstappen’s threats to leave the sport should be taken seriously, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the driver enjoys his racing experience. 

Verstappen’s current contract with Red Bull extends until 2028. However, ongoing frustrations with FIA regulations and penalties have led him to question his long-term commitment to Formula 1. As the season progresses, the relationship between Verstappen, the FIA, and Red Bull will be closely monitored by fans and analysts alike.
