In a remarkable moment that adds to his already impressive legacy, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has made history as the first father to take the court with his son in the NBA.

On October 6, at Acrisure Arena, LeBron’s long-awaited dream came true when his son, Bronny, stepped onto the court during the second quarter of a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. Coincidentally, it was also Bronny’s 20th birthday, making the occasion even more special.
While many NBA players have followed in their fathers’ footsteps, such as Steph and Seth Curry, Tim Hardaway Jr. with his father Tim Hardaway, and Klay Thompson with Mychal Thompson, LeBron’s achievement stands out. Over the past two years, LeBron has vocalized his desire to play alongside his oldest son, emphasizing his wish to play his final season in the league with Bronny. However, despite this milestone, it remains unclear if this will be LeBron’s last season.
The James duo joins a select group of father-son pairs who have played together in various professional sports. Notable examples include Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., who played together for the Seattle Mariners during parts of the 1990 and 1991 MLB seasons, and NHL legend Gordie Howe, who played alongside his sons, Marty and Mark, for the WHA’s Houston Aeros and the NHL’s Hartford Whalers.
Despite the historic significance of the game, the Lakers fell short, losing to the Suns with a final score of 118-114.
