Olympic Boxer Delicious Orie Stuns Fans with Potential WWE Career Move After Heartbreaking Defeat
Delicious Orie, Team GB’s super-heavyweight boxing star, has left fans in shock after revealing he might make a surprising switch to WWE. The 27-year-old athlete, who was born in Moscow and moved to England at age seven, had been one of Great Britain’s brightest hopes heading into the 2024 Paris Olympics. Unfortunately, his gold-medal dreams were dashed after a controversial 3-2 defeat to Armenia’s Davit Chaloyan, a result Orie described as “absolutely gutted.”

Despite the setback, Orie’s undeniable talent has made him a hot target for boxing promoters as he considers a professional career. However, in a jaw-dropping twist, the boxer recently disclosed in an interview with Sky Sports that he received an unexpected offer from WWE—a move that could see him leave the boxing ring for the world of professional wrestling.
“I was invited to potentially join WWE, and as mad as that sounds, I went out there to see what it’s all about,” Orie explained. “It was a fantastic experience. I learned so much over the few days I spent there, and it’s definitely something I’ve got on the table.”

Orie admitted that at first, he thought the message from the wrestling giant was a scam. “I got the message during the Olympics, but I was so focused on the Games that I wasn’t checking my inbox. It wasn’t until after the Games, when I was on holiday, that I realized it was legit. WWE told me, ‘We see your potential and would like to work with you.’”

Now, Orie faces a pivotal decision that could shape his entire career. “It’s not something I’m taking lightly. This is going to be huge. I’ve got to weigh my options carefully and decide between pursuing boxing or entering the WWE,” he added.
The Wolverhampton-based fighter has even met wrestling icons Shawn Michaels and Booker T during his visit to WWE’s NXT training center, where he could be part of the organization’s recruitment push for global talent.
Orie’s career prospects are at a crossroads, but whatever path he chooses, he vows to give it his all. “I want all my options on the table, and whatever I decide to do, I’ll give 100% commitment to be the best,” he said.
This WWE opportunity represents a rapid turnaround for Orie, coming just months after his Olympic heartbreak. Reflecting on his narrow defeat, Orie said, “I’m absolutely gutted. For eight years, I dreamed of winning an Olympic gold, and now it’s been taken away. I feel like I’ve let myself and my family down.”
Comparisons have already been drawn between Orie and fellow super-heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but Orie has bigger ambitions. “I see what AJ has done, and it motivates me to surpass him. I wouldn’t be in this sport if I didn’t believe I could be the best.”
As Orie weighs his options, fans around the world eagerly await his decision, one that could dramatically alter the course of his career—from the boxing ring to the wrestling stage.
