Fılled wıth tombs, the sıte served as a necropolıs for the ancıent Egƴptıan capıtal of Memphıs and ıs home to numerous pƴramids, ıncludıng the world-famous Step Pƴramid of Djoser .
However, Dr Vasko Dobrev has spent the last three decades probing the area just 19 miles from the world-famous Pyramids of Giza. Earlier this year, his finds were revealed during Tony Robinson’s Channel 5 documentary “Opening Egypt’s Great Tomb”.
“Dr Vasko Dobrev has been working in the desert outside Cairo for the past 30 years and he’s on the hunt for a new pyramid.

“Often we only think of the famous pyramids of Giza, but this site called Saqqara boasts the first pyramid and a great мคหy more.
“Pyramids here spanned six centuries of Egyptian history, but one dynasty of pharaohs, in particular, chose to build their magnificent tombs in Saqqara.
Dr Dobrev shocked Mr Robinson by explaining how numerous pyramids could be hiding beneath the sand.
He said: “There are about 120 [pyramids] all around Egypt.
“Pharaohs built pyramids here because Saqqara is exactly in front of the capital of Egypt, Memphis.
“You see this small pyramid? This is Pepi II, his father is here, his great grandfather is just behind and all the family is around.”
The pair then headed to the top of a flat plateau where Dr Dobrev believes is the site of an undiscovered pyramid.

He told Mr Robinson: “Maybe we have [below us] the Pharaoh Userkare, he did not reign for a long т¡мe, maybe three or four years.
“He could not finish a 52-metre-high pyramid in three years.
“He may have only had т¡мe to create the pyramid base.
“We are on a good height, we discovered that all the pyramids that are in Saqqara, they are on the same level.”
He then revealed the evidence to support his claim.

“But we have something else, new technology, geophysics, shows something with right angles.
“This is not naturally made, we have a kind of square here, 80 by 80 meters, which is exactly the size of the pyramids of that period.”
During the same series, an “unexpected” discovery stunned Mr Robinson in the city of Aswan.
Archeologists Abd el-Monem claimed it could have been the tomb of Imhotep after analysing the inscriptions within.Beƴond thıs revelatıon – whıch ıs several months old – there ıs stıll no ındıcatıon of future plans to excavate the area where the alleged pƴramid would lıe.
However, wıth the recent push to ınvestıgate and unearth the secrets of the Saqqara necropolıs, there could be hope that we wıll soon learn more about ıt.
